UK's Most Christmassy Location Revealed

London has today been crowned the most festive city in the UK.

Despite the ongoing Brexit turmoil in Westminster, Londoners have got themselves into the Christmas spirit quicker than any other city in the UK this year.

In analysis conducted by Christmas Tree World, the leading retailer of artificial Christmas trees, Londoners were found to be searching online for their 2019 festive decorations earlier than anywhere else.

During the month of August, 13% of all traffic to the christmastreeworld.co.uk website came from London, with Liverpool and Glasgow following behind in second and third places respectively.

With 67% of respondents to a recent survey in London admitting they are suffering from ‘Brexit fatigue’, perhaps it is no wonder they have turned their focus elsewhere in such big numbers in search of festive cheer.

Not only have they been quickest off the mark this year to start planning for the festive season, but Londoners have also proved to be the biggest online Christmas spenders, beating Edinburgh and Liverpool into second and third places.

And to further emphasise the thought that Christmas has arrived earlier this year, overall page views on the Christmas Tree World website were up 23% across August and September 2019 compared to the same period last year.

“Christmas seems to be starting earlier every year and this year has been no exception,” said Christmas Tree World’s Lawrence Evans.

“Whether it’s someone planning their company office decorations or a family wanting something special for their home, demand has been higher and earlier than ever this year, particularly in the capital.

“It has obviously been a turbulent year politically and perhaps many families up and down the country are looking forward to the Christmas season more than ever before for a bit of much-needed cheer.

“If you look beyond London, it’s interesting to see that most of the major cities in the UK are represented in the top ten, with Liverpool featuring in the top three of both of our lists.”
